It feels pretty surreal to be here, especially right now. BUT I’m here, so I’m going to make the most of it and enjoy my internship experience (which I’m very excited for).
Walked ~ 6 miles in this heat, melting the entire way from the White House to the Washington Monument, to the National Air and Space Museum, to the Capitol building and all the way back. π₯΅

Last night, I walked across the stage at Pasadena City College, closing one chapter and opening the next. π
Given everything happening in our city and country right now, it meant so much to stand shoulder to shoulder with my @pcclancer community celebrating, supporting one another, and showing up with strength, pride, and resilience.
This journey has been anything but short or simple, and I’m so grateful for every twist along the way. To every professor, administration staff, fellow student, tutee, friend, and family member: a heartfelt thank you. You’ve shaped the person I’ve become, and I carry your impact with me.
PCC gave me more than an education, it gave me lessons, memories, purpose, and most of all, opportunity. It’s a bittersweet goodbye, but this experience was always meant to help me grow beyond.
Here’s to the next chapter. π«

Still feeling overwhelmed (in the best way) after a very full Friday. I had the chance to present my research poster at the Natural Sciences Department Poster Session at PCC (thought it was just a showcase!) and ended up being one of four students recognized. I was also honored to receive the Honors Extraordinaire award in Geography alongside my brilliant peer, Florisa.
That same evening, I presented again at the @lageographicalsociety Symposium, this time as the newly appointed Student Representative… and to my complete surprise, my poster was recognized again. The project explores the intersection of seismic hazards and socioeconomic vulnerability, and it’s brought me nothing but good luck every time I’ve shared it. I’m truly humbled by the recognition and grateful for these opportunities as I close out my final semester at PCC.
I postponed posting about this out of respect for the events unfolding in LA over the weekend, which are still ongoing, and my heart remains heavy. Amidst everything, I’m holding deep gratitude for the support of my community and for spaces that amplify science, education, and connection. I’m also reflecting on the importance of supporting our wider LA community, especially those who’ve built and sustained this beautifully diverse city. Proud to be an Angeleno as always.

Someone I love and don’t typically spend a lot of time in nature with AND we almost always forget to snap pictures cause we’re living in the moment when together, is my bestie @ticabonita28 - I’m so glad we’re working on changing that this year and I cannot wait to show you all the amazing places I love π«ΆπΌ

Just now catching up with everything after spending the weekend in Turlock, CA at the @cgs_geography conference πΊοΈ
Had a great time with my @pcc_geography pals, got a chance to present my new and improved poster, engaged with some truly amazing people doing interesting research, and reconnected with some familiar faces from the APCG Conference.
Still processing everything, but I am beyond grateful to have received a travel grant, the David Lantis Scholarship, and first place for my poster. So honored to be part of such an inspiring community and feeling very thankful and motivated for what’s ahead!
Huge shoutout to PCC Geography faculty for all of the support in getting us there, all of the student volunteers and faculty at CSU Stanislaus (also thank you for hosting us), the students and faculty at @csufgeography.environment and UCSB for taking the time to chat and hang out with us, Bill Bowen for always supporting students and ensuring we have a seat/plate at the banquet, all of the members and organizers at CGS, and @elandrusenki for always being my side quest buddy.

Petrified Forest & Painted Desert - it’s wild to think that this area was a river delta millions of years ago, even crazier to see how these trees are now rocks. Pretty cool place. Bonus pictures of @ethan__is__hungry with his infamous peanut butter delight sandwich, and myself with @art_magik (two former Dana Club Presidents).

Made it all the way up to Cathedral Rock just in time for sunset. Managed to snap these photos before my phone died AND made it back down before it got too dark π
short but steep hike with a fun sandstone crack to shimmy up and back down. @christophcoomb and I marveled at all the people with the wrong type of footwear trying to make it up - the struggle was REAL for them π
